It's a family affair at this year's lord mayor's parade

Saturday 8 July is a Family First occasion, as this year’s Lord Mayor's Parade is all about celebrating family.

The Lord Mayor’s Parade is one of the highlights of the year, as people get together to celebrate this annual civic tradition; they can take part in the parade or just spectate, have fun and celebrate Barnsley.

Entrants are encouraged to embrace the family theme but all ideas are welcome, the most important thing is that people take part.

Entries are already coming in thick and fast from organisations across the borough because the parade provides such an excellent opportunity for them to promote what they do to the thousands of people who attend the parade.

It’s set to be an entertaining Saturday, as the National Strongman Car Deadlift Championship is also taking place in the town centre, alongside Independent Retailer Month; celebrating Barnsley’s unique range of independent retailers.

With entertainment and family activities lined-up it’s going to be a fun day out for all the family.
