Archaeology at Cannon Hall
Join us as we investigate the archaeology of Cannon Hall in a series of community digs.
As part of the THE PARKS FOR PEOPLE project a team of archaeologists are heading to Cannon Hall and they need your help to put on a dig! Come and get involved. It will be a unique hand-on opportunity to investigate the lives of the people who lived, worked and visited it over the years.
We will be undertaking a series of small test pits across the grounds and local expert archaeologists will be on hand to welcome you, explain everything you need to know and lend a helping hand throughout the day.
You will have the opportunity to learn about:
Archaeological excavation techniques
Archaeological recording, including photography, drawing and using recording sheets
The identification and recovery of archaeological finds
The excavations will be taking place across the weekends of the 5th and 26th of October, and you can sign up for a morning, afternoon or both – whichever your prefer.
Booking is essential through Eventbrite HERE!
