Barnsley War Memorial Project will remember those who died in conflict
Local historians from Barnsley are hoping that a new project will ensure that all those who have died in conflict are remembered.
The Barnsley War Memorials Project was started earlier this year, marking the centenary of the start of World War One.
The project aims to record for posterity the names of all the Barnsley fallen from the Boer War and the First World War to the present day, and also make those names available for everyone to search in an online Roll Of Honour.
A paper document will also be produced and donated to Barnsley Archives and Local Studies department to allow researchers to find out more about those killed in conflict, before the more permanent online and print Roll of Honour is produced in upcoming years.
The memorial project team also has the express aims of recording the monuments and memorials of fallen soldiers of Barnsley, wherever they may be. Members wish to help any projects with similar goals in the Barnsley area in both co-ordination and general assistance.
People interested in assisting with the project are asked to email email@example.com.
