Bring out your inner Indiana Jones with an introduction to archaeology

People interested in finding out more about archaeology can do so with a course at Experience Barnsley’s Discovery Centre.

The course aims to provide an introduction to archaeological techniques, theory and fieldwork, using local artefacts and including visits to nearby sites, led by an archaeologist.

The course includes investigating sites in the landscape, learning surveying skills, exploring buildings and townscapes and understanding how the past is presented to the public.

This fee-paying course takes place over seven sessions from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Fridays and runs from 12 September to 24 October. It costs £88.20 and is being run by the Workers' Educational Association (WEA).

For more information and to book a place contact the WEA on 0114 242 3609 or go to www.wea.org.uk/yh.
