Fascinating talk on Roman Barnsley

Sunday Times best-selling author and historian Martyn Johnson will be speaking at Experience Barnsley about the Romans in South Yorkshire - particularly their occupation in Barnsley.

The free talk will take place in Barnsley Town Hall Council Chamber on Saturday, 23 November at 2pm.

Martyn, an ex-policeman, was one of the people who found the first hoard of silver Roman coins in Darfield during the late 1940s. Martyn is a great public speaker and will give a fascinating and humorous account of his time and research on the Romans.

The talk is part of a programme of events and activities related to The Romans Are Coming exhibition, guest curated by Barnsley born Egyptologist Joann Fletcher, which runs until Sunday, 5 January 2014.
