The tour starts with a demonstration, from outside its engine house, of our 1795 Newcomen Beam Engine – the world’s oldest steam engine still in place, above the shafts of the Elsecar New Colliery.

Tours start at the Visitor Centre at 2pm, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

They are socially distanced, with a maximum of 6 people per group, cost £5 per person, payable by card only, and last around 90 minutes.
